Shane Downing is an award-winning journalist based in Oakland, California. His stories have appeared in publications across California, including Oakland Magazine, the Chronicle of Social Change, GreenBiz, SFGate, and the San Francisco Business Times. He's a former Hoodline editor and a returned Peace Corps volunteer. When he's not writing, Shane enjoys gardening, baking, and singing in the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus.
