Jessica Doherty

Jessica Doherty (she/her) is a multimedia arts and culture journalist and editor from New York City living in Los Angeles. She has been a researcher at Alta Journal since 2021. She recently graduated from the University of Southern California with an M.A. in Arts, Culture & Entertainment Reporting, a B.A. in Journalism, and a B.A. in Theatre. Throughout her time at USC, Doherty was one of two Executive Editors at USC Annenberg Media and the Editor in Chief of online arts and culture publication AmpersandLA. She is a five-time finalist of the Los Angeles Press Club Awards, on both local and national levels, for her criticism and arts reporting. Doherty was a Fellow of the Los Angeles Press Club in 2023 and a National Fellow Finalist of The Kennedy Center’s Institute for Theater Journalism and Advocacy in 2022. Currently, she is the Associate Editorial Director of Center Theatre Group, where she writes, produces, and edits print, digital, and social media content about the company’s programming. She is also a Contributor to local publication The Eastsider, where she writes a biweekly newsletter on restaurant news and profiles of local personalities and the Reported Features Editor of The Dry River, a zine from Crybaby Press about the physical and cultural landscape of Los Angeles.
