With reporting from the California Independent Booksellers Alliance, Alta Journal brings you a list of the bestselling titles at independent bookstores across Northern and Southern California for the week ending February 25, 2024.

Two new titles make their debut on the bestsellers list this week. Cleopatra and Frankenstein, a novel by Los Angeles–based author Coco Mellors, tells the story of Cleo, a 24-year-old painter, and Frank, the man she impulsively marries, who’s 20 years her senior. In Supercommunicators: How to Unlock the Secret Language of Connection, journalist Charles Duhigg explores the basics of communication and provides tips on how to improve conversation skills.
