Four illustrations by Alta Journal contributors have been selected by the Society of Illustrators to be shown in New York as part of the organization’s 2022 exhibition, which will run February 15 through March 18, 2023.
The society chose Victor Juhasz’s images accompanying Alta’s excerpt from the Marianne Wiggins novel Properties of Thirst (Issue 20) as well as the artist’s images accompanying Daniel A. Olivas’s short story “My Chicano Heart” (Issue 21).
Mark Smith’s images accompanying Adam Fisher’s reported history “Evel Knievel, Astronaut” (Issue 20) were also honored, as was Thomas Ehretsmann’s portrait of M.F.K. Fisher that ran with Jim Lewis’s essay “She Was Not a Food Writer” (Issue 21).
Everyone at Alta congratulates these artists for their distinctive work and compelling contributions to our print magazine.
The Society of Illustrators is located at 128 East 63rd Street in New York, and admission information is available on the society’s website.•
