Alta Journal invites you to Kepler’s Books in Menlo Park on Tuesday, October 21, at 7 p.m. for an evening dedicated to the literature of California. The event will feature writers John Freeman, Elaine Castillo, and Tommy Orange in conversation about the state’s vibrant and ever-changing literary landscape.

At the center of the evening is Freeman’s new essay collection, California Rewritten, which is drawn from his writings for Alta’s California Book Club. Here, Freeman reflects on the writers and stories that have shaped the Golden State, offering a powerful reexamination of how literature shapes identity.•
