Is Dezso Molnar the most interesting man in the world? The Los Angeles native, military veteran, inventor, and musician (among other things) is on a mission to build a street-legal flying car on a budget—and he’s getting close. Molnar took journalist and Alta Journal contributor Adam Fisher along for a wild ride through the Mojave Desert to see his Streetwing in action. The pair join Alta Live to regale us with tales of their New Year’s Day journey, explain how Molnar’s flying car will work, and discuss the future of how we get around.

About the guests:

Dezso Molnar has built two gyrocycles (a.k.a. flying motorcycles), led a record-holding land-speed team, was an XPrize judge, and helped create the private manned-space-shuttle industry. He’s a pilot, a flight engineer, and a mechanic and is now forming the Flying Car Racing league and building a solar-electric flying race car. He’s a musician and invented the Mixman DM2, which he eventually licensed to Atari and Mattel.

Adam Fisher is the author of Valley of Genius, the canonical history of modern Silicon Valley, and writes for Wired, the New York Times Magazine, and Alta.•
