This view of quotidian life in a neighborhood in Queens, New York, was captured during photographer Cara Galowitz’s daily lunch breaks over a seven-year period. The book’s design, in which photos fill the page or are bordered by only white space, permits the images to speak for themselves, giving the reader an intimate glimpse of this ethnically diverse community in transition. These 76 photos, which range from portraits to architectural details, oscillate between past and present.
