Fiction came to the pages of Alta this summer. Our debut featured Peter Orner’s “Above Santa Cruz,” a story he included in his new collection, Maggie Brown & Others. The book was longlisted for the Simpson/Joyce Carol Oates Prize and named a Notable Book by the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune. Our Fall 2019 issue featured “The Gnome,” a new story by Ander Monson that will be included in his forthcoming collection, The Gnome Stories. Monson is the award-winning author of eight books and directs the MFA program at the University of Arizona.
