THE THOUGHTFUL BACHELOR PARTY

Tom Zito’s review of Ex-Husbands is spot-on. I saw the film this week, and despite a trailer that tries to make it look like The Hangover or any number of ridiculous over-the-top slapstick comedies, I was pleasantly surprised. It is a warm, smart, and gently humorous look at life’s stages. While it is centered on the men of the family, it also treats the women in the film with respect and honesty. I loved seeing different life stages through the eyes of these characters—taking care of elderly parents, divorce, figuring out your place in the world, dating at different ages, grief. It is an adult film in the best way. I hope everyone will see this film in a theater. Not only will you enjoy it, but supporting this type of filmmaking and going to independent theaters will help encourage more filmmaking of this type. And you’ll have a great time!
