Politics are firmly divided in Oregon—so much so that an organized group of Oregonians wants to secede from the state and become a part of Idaho. In his latest for Alta Journal, contributor Julian Smith introduces us to members of the Greater Idaho Movement, who feel that the state’s politics have become too liberal to represent their interests, along with some of the residents who oppose the concept—or find it altogether impossible. Join Alta Live as we welcome Mike McCarter, president of the Greater Idaho Movement, to explain the organization’s mission and answer some of the concerns and rebuttals Smith brings up in his feature.
